Meet the Team Spread

We recently asked our translators to send us their picture as we realised that most of these hard working individuals, while being our main asset, usually work on a freelance basis and are therefore hidden from our clients. These are some of the pictures we received, but they are by no means all our registered freelance translators— in fact, we have over 2,000 freelance translators registered to work for us, covering over 75 languages.  These pictures just show our clients what a lovely bunch they are with it!

These translators have an impressive breadth of language skills and market knowledge in various sectors, including but not limited to: finance, IT, literature, art, architecture, law, manufacturing, websites, marketing…

If you would like to use our translators for any of your translation projects, please either give us a call on +44(0)161 833 0907 or drop us a line: and we will gladly discuss your requirements further.  We look forward to doing business with you soon!

Elise Kendall – Director (French & English)

Elise studied French and Art History at the University of Liverpool and received a 2:1 with Distinction in 2002. She also holds a Masters in Translation and Interpreting Studies from the University of Manchester, and is a Member of the Institute of Linguists, having been awarded the IoLET Diploma in Translation. Professionally, Elise has been working for a variety of companies both in France and the UK including LVMH and BDP doing commercial translations and interpreting.

Elise carried out a number of literary translations as part of her Masters, and set up this company with a view to creating a professional translation company which specialises in literature. Over time, this has grown to other specialist areas such as legal translations, commercial translations, scientific translations and website translations. Elise has lived in both France and the UK for over 14 years respectively and therefore has a good knowledge of both English and French language and culture, which is vital if translations, especially literary ones, are to be carried out proficiently.

Elise lives in Manchester (UK) and is currently working for a number of clients, including the Ferrara Art Institute, Building Design Partnership and Excelian, supplying translations and managing projects from start to finish. As the company’s main director, she also spends much of her time trying to grow the business and ensuring that the level of service received by Bookworm Translations’ clients is second to none. Please drop Elise a line if you would like more information about the company and its services:

How do we choose our translators?

Our selection process to find qualified translators is very strict.  We ask for copies of their CVs when they register, along with references, copies of their qualification certificates and examples of their work to ensure that the people who want to work with us are as qualified as they profess to be.  With time, we have learned on which translators we can count on, and we have created strong links with translators speaking several languages and having different strengths.

If none of our translators meet your project’s requirements, we will carry out a specific recruitment drive to ensure that the person who we employ to do the work is the most suited to do so.

If your project is large (over 10,000 words), you will be attributed a Project Manager who will oversee the project from start to finish, and will be available 24/7 to discuss your project’s progress.
